I Want to Dive Right In
Life. We only get one go’round and I intend to make the most of it. At this point in my life I still have a ton of goals, hopes, and dreams. I’ve always lived my life following my “gut” and so far, it hasn’t led me wrong. Meeting and marrying the man of my dreams six months later was one of those times. Ten years down the road, we’re still going strong. As I write this he’s serving a two year tour over seas and I find myself with our two boys back in our home town. The Magic City is where I grew up and for me, Miami is the place I call home. It was even when I didn’t live here. It was place I longed to be even when my address was in Las Vegas or D.C.
Military life certainly has its ups and downs, finding myself back home with out my husband will certainly be challenging and hard at times. Life is challenging, life is difficult sometimes and I appreciate those times because it makes the wonderful moments all the more amazing. I’m a terribly optimistic person and not one to wallow in self pity or sit around and wait for things to happen to me. I can’t sit still and just wait for the other half of my heart to come home, that’s just not who I am and if I were to do that I think I may go completely bananas! I’m taking this opportunity-being back home where I have an amazing support system in place to live life with passion or rather to fill my life with things I am passionate about.
I don’t think it’s selfish to want to do some things for myself. To work on things that I’m passionate about. Or to work towards fulfilling some of those dreams I dreamed when I was little…Dreams that are still magical and wonderful. One of my dreams is to finally write a book. I’m currently working on that major passion of mine and I feel so grateful to be able to do that. Another major interest of mine is photography. I want so much to delve further into photography. It’s a wonderful creative outlet for me and I dream about the day I’ve finally saved up enough green for a DSLR camera. Another passion of mine is dance. I love music and dance unfortunately I was born with virtually no rhythm my Cuban DNA definitely failed me there! While here in Miami I plan on taking a few dance classes even if I resemble more of a stumbling elephant than a graceful gazelle. I will continue to shake my groove thing every chance I get! That I promise you!
You may be wondering why I’m writing this post. It’s simple I’ve got this great opportunity to tell you about something in my life I haven’t tried yet-but want to, for the chance to hang out with some fellow-fabulous bloggers like The Divine Miss Mommy right here in my home town! Throw in some spending cash that would go a long way towards encouraging my passions and creativity and I am literally shaking at the mere thought of winning!
I love to try new things. If we were to never try anything new, life would soon become very boring and although I love the mundane, life is meant to be lived and a great way to do that is to check off that proverbial “bucket list”. On the very top of my list is learning how to scuba dive.
Growing up in Miami I spent a lot of time at the beach in the sun. It didn’t bode well for my fair complexion but the ocean is magical to me. I’m drawn to it like a moth to the flame and that is why I want to learn how to scuba dive. I’ve spent hours in the ocean swimming and snorkeling but I want to dive in and really explore the wonder that is the great big sea. My younger sister and brother already dive and I would love to be able to join them and finally get to experience first hand all the things I’ve only heard about so far.
I’m crossing my fingers, tossing all my coins into every fountain I cross, and wishing on a star for this chance!

I spent a few hours this afternoon playing Volvo’s game Lost in Forks for a chance to win the 2010 Volvo XC60 that is featured in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. It took me a while to stop going round and round in circles trying to find the very elusive Cullen house but I did it!
My hints: Avoid Victoria, the wolves, and Charlie!
Throughout the game you come across a few snippets (they call them Easter eggs- they don’t look like eggs) from the film. Here is one in the meadow.
I managed to get to the Cullen house in 11 forks. I’m a little worried that there may be a quicker way-but I’ve tried and tried and eleven forks was the shortest possible route I could find.
