A Great Disguise

Do you see this little boy? He is very cute. Don’t be fooled. It’s a disguise, because beneath that adorable exterior lies a monster… O.K. maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but today this little boy kicked my ass. I am positively exhausted. He wouldn’t listen, threw the biggest hissy fit in Lowes, and made me consider taking my chancleta (flip flop) off and whacking him with it! I didn’t of course. But I’m left wondering how my mother-in-law managed to raise three exceptional men… I’m pretty sure a broom was involved.

This is how I feel right now. The crazy thing is I want more of these little creatures I call my children. I must be insane. Do you think my husband would have a vasectomy?

Do you see this little angel here? He was positively cherubic today. He’s only nine months old though, and has another four years to metamorphosize into his older brother.

A Proud Son

A Proud Son

While we were driving to drop my husband off at his second job. Yes, he works two jobs. Don’t be surprised.

Anyway before I digress off on a tangent of able bodied people living on welfare (’cause you know I want to go there – that’s the kind of mood I’m in today) I have a really nice tidbit of a conversation that made me beam with pride.

Right before we dropped my husband off (I dropped him off ’cause we only have one car and I needed to run errands so we made the hour trek from home.)

Our eldest son Mo says, “Dad can you wear your Air Force clothes to the playground.”

Where upon my husband shook his head and said, “No. I can’t.”

“O c’mon dad, I want all my friends to see that my daddy is an airman.”

I ask, “Why do you want daddy to wear his uniform to the playground?”

“Mom, its to show everyone how proud I am that my daddy is an airman, and he helps keeps the world safe.”

Duh.

In that last statement my son was quoting a line taken by a book he has My Daddy is an Airman.

MeeWee Music Review

MeeWee Music Review

Like me, my son loves music. Lately he’s been wanting to use my iPod to listen to music. I really like the fact that he enjoys and appreciates music. When I was contacted to review MeeWee music I was excited because it would be a great opportunity to find some new tunes for my son to listen to.

Mo enjoyed most of the songs. However at one point he did get bored. Telling me that “all the music sounds the same.” I can’t argue with his critique because it does. Most of the soundtrack does sound similar using rap, and hip hop themes because that was the point of the developers – to create “fun, exciting, and uplifting Hip-Hop music for elementary school age children.” The songs themselves are great and do provide a positive and uplifting theme. I think that my son probably got bored with the CD because he’s grown used to listening to my playlists which contain music that run across the musical spectrum from salsa, rock, and R&B. I will certainly be adding these songs to his playlist that includes other children artists like Dan Zane.

If you’re looking for a fun and kid friendly hip hop album for your child then MeeWee would be a great selection.

My favorite song on the album is “I can be anything” which encourages your child to dream big with lyrics like, “I believe in you, there’s nothing you can’t do.” My son’s favorite song was Kung Foo Kid, he liked adding in kicks and “haaa-yaaas” to our dancing repertoire.

You can check out this fun children’s album for yourself at MeeWee.com or iTunes, rhapsody, amazon or emusic. .

Learning to Tie Shoes made Easier with Tie Buddies!

Learning to Tie Shoes made Easier with Tie Buddies!

My little guy will be starting school this fall and I’d like him to know how to tie shoes. Enter tie buddies, a Mom invented product that helps teach your child how to tie his shoes.

What are tie buddies you ask? I’m happy to tell you.

Tie buddies act as pull tabs for your little one’s fingers and eliminate the need for loops (remember those bunny ears). Because the tabs have pictures on them you can also create little rhymes or stories to help your child remember the steps to tying their shoe laces. Can’t think up a shoe tying story on your own. No need to worry, tie buddies has done that for you.

Mo is on his way to tying his shoes and I’m sure he’ll have it down in no time. Once your child has the hang of tying his shoes and is ready to move on to tying them with out the buddies but still wants to keep them around you can add them to the laces as little decorations.

Tie buddies come in two different themes Race Cars and Fairy & Magic Wand, and here’s your chance to score one package!

Big Brother Knows Best

Here’s a tidbit of a conversation my son and I had earlier today regarding his baby brother.

“Mom, baby Copper needs some fruit salad.” My son Mo, said as he happily chomped on his own concoction of fruity deliciousness.

“No he doesn’t, he’s happy with his peas.” I said, as I spooned a gob of the Gerber green peas into his semi open mouth.

“MoOHMM. He does need fruit salad. That stuff he’s eating is disgusting.”

“No, it’s not. He likes it, and it’s healthy and good for his little growing body. You should take a lesson from him, and eat your peas when I serve them to you.”

“Just wait till he can talk, he’s going to tell you not to feed him that stuff.”

“Really, What do you think he’s going to want me to feed him.”

“Um, anything but yucky vegetables. He’ll want things like fruit salad, ring pops, and ice cream. I bet he’d open his mouth real wide. Like this.” He informed me, opening his mouth as wide as it would go for effect.

“Yeah, I see your point. But he’s going to eat his peas while I can get him to eat them.”

Those are odds I can’t argue with.
