It’s been a while since I’ve driven a fun to drive, car. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to test drive the 2011 Kia Optima SX Turbo for a week. This car was very fun to drive. I know when you think of Kia automobiles you may not immediately think [...]

A few weeks ago I was sent a lovely box of treats from Kashi. Among those treats were Peanutty Dark Chocolate Layered Granola Bars that are so yummy I was tempted to keep them all for myself!
I dolled them out to family and friends and they all rather enjoyed [...]

Today began like any other ordinary, mundane day. Somewhere in the middle of my day things took a turn down the street named Out of the Ordinary, and stayed there for about twenty minutes…give or take. It was during these 1,200 seconds (give or take) that I had two very interesting conversations. [...]

I just read the last few lines of Mindblind by Jennifer Roy. Mindblind is an amazing book about four-teen year old Nathaniel a profoundly gifted young man with Asperger’s Syndrome. Nathaniel loves formulas because they make sense to him-unlike the real world where he’s forced to live in when he comes out [...]

We presently live about an hour away from my husband’s work (a.k.a. civilization) and although we have really enjoyed the small town we currently live in we miss being closer to the city (both of us having grown up in Miami-I don’t think we can help ourselves very much.) So whenever we want to do anything other than going to the movies or Wal-Mart we’ve got to make the trek into the Metro D.C. area.

Protecting my skin is a major priority for me. Not only because it is the smart thing to do and by doing so I avoid any sun damage that can age my skin, but because in 2006 a mole on my back turned out to be melanoma-the worst kind of skin cancer a person can get. The kind that can spread throughout your body. Let me tell you sitting in my skin cancer specialists’ office and having him tell me about survivability rates over a mole on my skin has a weird way of putting things into perspective. A few weeks ago I introduced Pop On Pals to my two year old, Evan. As I opened the box he squealed with delight and couldn’t wait for me to find the scissors to open the box before he began playing with it (see photo below). Evan doesn’t normally enjoy toys for his age group, preferring instead to play with his older brother’s (age six) toys. I can’t really blame him, his cars, and legos are very entertaining.
I am happy to report that Evan actually played with his Amusement Park and continues to do so almost daily. His favorite part is the roller coaster (I’m not surprised) and he also enjoys putting his little pal on the ferriss wheel for a spin.
