We Lost Kitty Cat!

We Lost Kitty Cat!

Wednesday while my boys and I were at the mall a horrible thing happened to us…to little Evan really. He some how managed to let go of his beloved “kitty cat” and he’s been lost.

Unfortunately this Ikea Gosig Katt we purchased a while ago is no longer for sale at Ikea.
My little guy is taking it well, but sometimes when he thinks about his cat and he’s especially tired his eyes will well up and he’ll say, “I miss my kitty cat.”

Sigh….

Calming Coffee

I snapped this photograph one morning a few weeks ago. I’ve grown quite fond of my coffee in the morning and this mug makes it that much more enjoyable.

Cut or Grow?

Cut or Grow?

I’m over due for a hairstyle update and since moving back to Florida I’ve come to the conclusion that keeping my bangs nice is going to be a lot more work than I bargained for considering the humidity levels, especially during the summer months. Lately I’ve been pinning my bangs back with a clip which is fine for when I just don’t want to deal with them-but truth is they’re longer than they should be at this point and so they annoy me. I’m going to get my hair done this week and have to make the decision between now and then whether or not I should keep my bangs and have them cut or grow them out. If I start growing them out now by June I will be at a point where I can pull them back into my pony tail which is why I really need to decide if I want them, or commit to having them through the summer months.

Here are a few snapshots of me with and with out bangs.

The things is, I actually really like having bangs because they’re fun, but with the summer comes lots of out door fun things and I really don’t wan to have to constantly be worried about them going all Albert Einstein on me.  The other thing I’m also trying to decide on is color. I’ve had some sort of a red shade ranging from a color very close to my own like I have right now to cranberry for about two years now and I think I’m ready for a blonde change. Yet, I’ve once again found myself attached to my red hair…decisions…decisions…

Imaginary Decor

Look what I found at Marshalls the other day!

You will not ever, not in a million years guess how much I paid for it.

One whole dollar!

Hard to believe but so very true! I found it on the clearance shelf hidden behind a bunch of other things and to my surprise it was in perfect unmarred contion.

That is what I call a bargain! I placed  it on my dresser and dangled some pretty things on it. Which makes me really want a jewelry hanging/storage thing-a-ma-bob like this one I spied on Design Sponge a while back. I don’t have the room for something like this right now, but I’ve got a few old frames hanging around and an idea or four swirling through my mind.

This Lenten Forty

This Lenten Forty

It’s Ash Wednesday and so it is the beginning of the Lenten season. This year instead of abstaining from something as is customary; I am going to be breaking the rules a bit and actually taking something up instead. This Lent I will be (as much as it pains me to say it) taking my vitamins…Each and every single one of them. Sigh.

Gastric Bypass Vitamins
Vitamins are quite possibly my least favorite thing.

I hate taking my vitamins. As a result I rarely do. This is not a good thing. It’s not  good because I’ve had gastric bypass surgery. As a result my body can not absorb enough vitamins from the foods I consume and so it is absolutely necessary for my continued good health that I do take them each and every single day.

You may not know this about me, but I can be very stubborn.

And so, there it is…The true thing I will be re-leaving myself of this season. My much adored bull-head.

Instead I will not let my disdain for my vitamins (which began when I was recovering from surgery and each time I would attempt to swallow a pill I would wretch and gag.) control me. I will give-in and finally follow my doctor’s orders. In so doing I will be better caring for this body the Lord has so graciously afforded me; and in addition to my body I will also be improving my spirit.  Which is quite possibly the greatest and most special thing I’ve got.

Which brings me to the second aspect of this Lenten renouncement. I will be forgoing all things that affect me-and by extension my body-and my spirit negatively. Instead I will be focusing on improving my self  and examining the things that-my stubbornness a.k.a. fears, a.k.a. insecurities (I know it may be hard to believe this-but yes, even I-Miss Ever-So-Confident can, and do have a few things I’m insecure about.) and anything else of a Delphic nature that is hindering me from doing the things that God intends for me to do.

xo,

Instant Film Desires

Instant Film Desires

I know I just got a DSLR camera. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to now own one.  Because I’ve been photography obsessed now more than ever It occurred to  that not only do I take an awful lot of pictures between my my Nikon, Sony Cybershot, and iPhone with no intention of slowing down or limiting my snap-happy ways.  This amounts to hundreds of photographs on a monthly basis. Some good, some bad, some ugly but all are digital which is wonderful.  I’m sad to say that I very rarely print them out. This got me thinking about days gone by, when as a young adolescent I recieved a Polaroid camera as a gift. They were a lot of fun and I think I should like to own one again. I am now on the look out for an instant film camera.

There are two in particular that I’ve got my eyes on that I’ll be adding to my wish list. The latest-oh-so-modern-instant film camera from Polaroid and the FujiFilm instamax bad boy. Both of which print credit card sized photographs and come in fun colors.

Five Things I Liked This Week

Five Things I Liked This Week

It’s been a while since I’ve written up a “crush” post and there is an awful lot I’m crushing on these days. So here goes…

I just started re-reading Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. You know, as pre-prep for the film release by the same name starring Robert Pattinson and Reece Witherspoon. When I saw the trailer the other night, I went a little week in the knees. I kid you not!

I am in love with this dress from ModCloth In love I tell you! Even the name, “Swan Cloud” is appealing to me. I don’t know where I’d wear it to; but if I had it I’m thinking I’d wear it everywhere. To the supermarket, the bookstore, the dentist, and even soccer practice…What I mean to say is…If my boys played soccer, I’d totally show up wearing it and I’d be one snazzy soccer mom. Hey! It could happen.

In case you’re new around here. I love owls. I think this bangle I found on etsy from a shop called FrostedWillow is very charming and I want it. BAD.

Chocolate and BooksChocolate and a good book. Two of my favorite things.

This week on iTunes they featured a free song by R.E.M. (a group I’ve loved since teen-hood) called ÜBerlin off of their new album Collapse Into Now. I really enjoyed it a lot and can’t wait to hear the other tracks on the album. There is just something about Michael Stipe’s voice that I just love.

Just Me

After much drooling over, and hoping, wishing, dreaming, and saving I finally got my hands on a DSLR camera. I’m still learning how to use the thing but I’m having so much fun doing it. Much of the time I have to practice on myself…here are my latest…
